With a career older than the internet, Stephen Kinnaird got his initial inspiration from visiting the shop of Jay Rhyne in Atlanta, GA in the early 70’s. It was impressive to see a modern example of an old world craft. Continued inspiration has come by studying excellent examples of older instruments. Eschewing the itch of mandatory modernism, Steve takes joy in presenting a fresh face to venerable sensibilities.

Receiving his first commission, a left-handed guitar, in 1980, Steve has continuously built custom guitars with a focus on beautiful woods. In 2007, he added shopmate Ryan Middlebrook to help increase production. They currently build around 12 to 15 distinctive instruments a year.
